Replacement Scottish Adoption Certificate

From here you can safely order an official Scottish Adoption Certificate. We can supply any certificate generated between 1930 and 2006.

NOTE: Please be aware that any certificate issued after 2006 is only available directly from the General Register Office. If this is the case, go to to order your certificates. We may still be able to obtain the certificate for you from a local registry office, but be advised that this is likely to take longer than the stated timespan.

NOTE 2: Please note: Adoption certificates are closed records. In order to abide by confidentiality regulations, they are not allowed to be transcribed to an electronic database. This means that a manual search has to be conducted to locate the certificate, and this can take up to 20 working days if ordered on the standard service.

NOTE 3: Stated delivery times are in addition to the time taken to complete the service chosen.

Guidance Notes

For overseas use, please be aware that some overseas authorities will require to you to have your document 'Legalised' to prove authenticity. This is known as an Apostille and is carried out by the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office. This often affects passport applications, social security applications and property purchases so you are advised to check before you order. We are happy to provide the Apostille service to you order, however please note that this adds between 1 day and 2 weeks to the order process depending upon the chosen option. The Apostille service charges start from £59.00 per certificate.
